PERSONAL CARE
The Personal Care Program provides personal assistance for seniors who are unable to bathe themselves. This personal hygiene service is subcontracted with a licensed agency.
HOMEMAKER PROGRAM
The purpose of the Homemaker Program is to provide basic home cleaning and straightening for the bath, kitchen and bedroom areas. Eligible participants must be living alone or with another senior. This is a subcontracted service with a licensed agency.
IN-HOME RESPITE CARE
The Respite Care Program service allows care givers to get a break and take care of themselves. The program provides a brief period of rest for those caring for seniors 60 + years old. Respite Care can be provided in-home. These are contracted services.
ADULT DAY HEALTH CARE
In order for care givers to get a break, this contracted service provides limited personal care for dependent adults in a supervised, protective, and congregate setting during some portion of a day. Services offered may include: social and recreational activities, counseling; meals, and rehabilitation and medication assistance.
MEDICAL ALERT
The Medical Alert service provides Emergency Response Assistance to seniors 60+ years old with a discounted fee.
JCOA CARES
JCOA Cares provides regular telephone calls to seniors who live alone and/or feel isolated due to age, health problems, or living arrangements. A dedicated JCOA staff person checks on the seniors’ safety and well being.
LEGAL SERVICES
Pro Bono Project attorneys volunteer their time to assist elders with legal issues. Pre set legal clinics at several of the senior centers offer general advice and guidance. Please check with your neighborhood center for schedule. The program does not allow criminal or fee generating cases.
MATERIAL AID
The Material Aid program provides eligible seniors with incontinence supplies and nutritional supplements, like Ensure, Boost, and Glucerna.
WELLNESS PROGRAMS
Throughout the year, evidenced-based programs are offered to address the well-being and health of seniors. The programs take place at designated senior centers.
UTILITY SERVICES
Power to Care is an emergency utility assistance program sponsored by Entergy to help low income seniors 60+ years old and handicapped adults 18 years or older with electrical expenses on an emergency basis. Eligible candidates can apply at a senior center in their area. In addition to completing an application, candidates will need to provide evidence of their age, disability, income, and copies of their utility bills. These documents are then forwarded for review and approval. Payments of the approved amount are paid directly to the utility company.
